  • Overview

    To assist maintenance management in accomplishing department goals by maintaining an even work flow. Provide guidance and training to associates in order to achieve the highest possible level of productivity and fully document all the activities of the department. This individual will provide technical expertise for hardware/software maintenance and replacement, as well as, being a key member of the installation team. An important element of this position will include development/mentoring of Technician II’s and Technician I’s



    • Perform all the hands-on maintenance duties as defined in the Maintenance Technician II job description and train, coach and mentor technicians and helpers (usually by hands-on demonstrations and by example).                        
    • Provide expertise in highly technical areas such as microprocessors, control systems, HVAC, system layout, power distribution, etc. 
    • Develop and maintain exceptional troubleshooting skills and use those skills to quickly and accurately identify the root cause of a problem and fix the problem.
    • Monitor the quality, completeness, timeliness, efficiency and accurate documentation of maintenance activities.      
    • Aid management in the distribution of work, development of PM schedules, use of work orders and association of costs for parts and labor to the specific work done.       
    • Assess situations, analyze facts, research information and develop/present possible solutions.  Refer problems to maintenance management that are outside the normal guidelines, skill level of the maintenance staff or exceed the budgeted level of service.
    • Maintain and promote a safe workplace through training, cleanup, review and maintenance of material safety data sheets, adherence of OSHA and EPA standards and by example. 
    • Other duties as may be assigned.


    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Five years of mechanical, electrical and general maintenance experience with expertise in one or more of the following: Distribution, boilers, chillers, HVAC, pumps and air compressors, automation systems (distribution, building, etc.) power distribution, conveyor systems, vehicle maintenance (lifts, fork trucks, cranes, etc.), and facilities
    • Vocational training, technical certification or a current or past professional license
    • Advanced knowledge of PC usage (PLC support, Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, etc.)
    • Ability to organize tasks, be detail oriented and analytical.
    • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a professional, calm and reassuring demeanor.
    • Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to bend, stoop, climb ladders and perform work above the shoulder level.
    • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed
    • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
    • Strong electrical/mechanical abilities and knowledge of hand tools.
    • Able to perform all the duties of a maintenance technician and helper.
    • Knowledge of AC and DC circuits and wire guidance, battery maintenance.
    • Strong diagnostic skills of powered lift equipment.
    • Knowledge of carpentry skills, including woodworking, door repair, drywall, metal studs, floor coverings, wall coverings, concrete, basic electrical, and plumbing.
    • Strong diagnostic skills of electrical and mechanical equipment.
    • Working knowledge of programmable controllers.
    • Detailed knowledge of automated material handling systems.
    • Extensive distribution knowledge and background.
    • Detailed knowledge of computer controlled systems.
