The Merchandise Processor in the Value Added Services (VAS) Department is an entry-level position that is responsible for the manual support of handling merchandise throughout the Value Added Services process.  This may include recording, marking, cutting, serging, sewing, pressing, and folding/bagging. 



  • Verify item number, color, size and quantity of all merchandise
  • Identify and document correct measurements from invoices to merchandise
  • Mark appropriate lengths on special service pants utilizing rulers and chalk coloring
  • Cut special service pants at the appropriate length by following documented guidelines (blind vs. cuff)
  • Serge pants evenly as indicated by colored markings
  • Utilizing an industrial sewing machine, sew special service pants to the appropriate length: cuff, blind or hem
  • Machine maintenance: cleaning, oiling, replacing needles, re-threading, etc.
  • Press special service pants on creases and at proper cuff length
  • Fold and bag special service items into plastic polybags
  • Sort totes/merchandise according to the priority of the customer’s order


  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with little error
  • Must have good organizational skills
  • Must be detail oriented with a high level of accuracy
  • Must have legible handwriting
  • Previous industrial sewing experience preferred
  • Ability to read measurements from a ruler
  • Ability to read/convert measurements to fractions
  • Must be able to perform basic math functions
  • Ability to distinguish between colors
  • Must be able to work and learn independently
  • Ability to lift "up to" 25lbs
