  • Overview

    Purpose: Responsible for delivery of effective security and loss prevention services to Eddie Bauer and clients.  These associates are the first line contact for initiating emergency and loss prevention functions to Eddie Bauer, in order to provide a safe work environment for associates and reduce losses for these corporations.  This is accomplished through receipt and subsequent dissemination to appropriate parties as dictated by client directives, operating procedures, code enforcement agencies, or by the judgement of the loss prevention administrator handling the situation.  Additionally LPA staff members will assist in design and application of systems aiding in the processing of this information as well as the procedures and practices for implementation.         

    Responsibilities

    Core Accountabilities:

    • Oversees several different types of computer monitoring systems that provide information to the LPA that include fire, intrusion, duress, access control, environmental systems, and video.
    • Information received is then applied to the most appropriate response scenario as directed by procedure. When the incoming information does not directly apply to a pre-defined response, the LPA must use his/her judgement to find the most “appropriate” response to minimize losses, either monetary or to personnel. The LPA may do this directly or oversee staff members working with the LPA.
    • Is the first line corporate technical expert in regards to security/loss prevention practices and systems to Eddie Bauer and its clients.
    • Serves as a “loss prevention help desk” function. This may include assisting a store manager with trouble shooting their alarm system, working with alarm technicians in effectively resolving a service call, or working with corporate loss prevention personnel in developing procedures or responses to a situation they are facing in the field.
    • May assist in aiding a client in deciding on the urgency or severity of a loss prevention scenario they may be faced with.
    • Decisions will be based upon protection levels procedure, and the LPA’s judgement.
    • Effective delivery of this service will reduce expenditures for Eddie Bauer and its clients by minimizing losses, lowering overtime, reducing unnecessary service calls, and lower usage contract guard services.
    • Leads a shift comprised of 3-6 loss prevention associates in the successful execution of their job functions.
    • Is primary point of contact for emergency situations for Eddie Bauer corporations.
    • The LPA may receive notification of emergency events such as smoke, gas, fire, earthquake, tornado, medical, overseas travel emergency, etc., and must relay this information to the proper emergency services through out the country and emergency personnel for the corporations that Eddie Bauer serves. For Eddie Bauer the LPA may directly assist during these events.
    • Either directly or through subordinates ensures the psychical security of Eddie Bauer facilities by conducting periodic checks of the physical protection of Eddie Bauer. This may include fence lines, gates, lighting levels, doors, windows, etc.
    • Create, review, and monitor reports from security systems or testing routines.
    • The LPA must then relay any findings to proper contact person at Eddie Bauer or client.
    • Oversees, conducts and enforces, as needed, all turnstile monitoring policies and procedures including bag and garment checks, temporary badge distribution and proper use of equipment/merchandise removal receipts.
    • Assists loss prevention management from Eddie Bauer and clients in development of procedures and responses to services that Eddie Bauer Loss Prevention is providing.
    • Provides customization of Eddie Bauer security system software applications.
    • The LPA is responsible for all “programming” of security software to ensure Eddie Bauer objectives are met.
    • Works with Eddie Bauer Loss Prevention management to routinely test systems for functionality and user preparedness.
    • Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as Underwrites Laboratories, insurance carriers, and local code authorities.
    • Is watchful of all acts of carelessness and violations of EBFS company policy that may directly contribute to potential disaster, inventory shrinkage and/or profit drain. Reports findings to the Loss Prevention Management.
    • Oversees and conducts checks on trailer deliveries and delivery methods (seals, paperwork, etc.).
    • Administers and supervises any additional duties, functions or programs on directive from the Loss Prevention Investigator, Supervisor or Manager.
    • May conduct the training and evaluation of new Loss Prevention personnel.
    • Assists in the investigation of and the apprehension of dishonest associates or contractors.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience Required:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • 3 to 4 years related loss prevention or security experience
    • 2 years associates degree in related field or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    • Intermediate knowledge of personal computers
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Outstanding customer service skills that demonstrate a willingness and ability to exceed client expectations
    • Ability to motivate and encourage others
    • Proven leadership skills
    • Willingness to work in a team atmosphere
    • Ability to prioritize tasks while remaining flexible
    • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a professional demeanor
    • Knowledge of first aid procedures
    • Working knowledge of legislation applying to rules of evidence, arrest, and search
    • Available to work overtime as needed

     

    Physical Requirements:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that are required by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

    • Work in a busy office environment in a shared office space including shared desk spaces
    • Subject to inside environmental conditions; protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
    • Ability to stay focused on a task with constant background noise of call center activity
    • Efficient keyboarding/data entry skills and ability to use a mouse
    • Ability to sit for long periods of time in a stationary position
    • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery for long periods of time
    • Operate under fluorescent lighting for long periods of time
    • Required to have close visual acuity to perform activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal
    • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear. The associate is frequently required to sit; use hands to type, mouse or key; as well as reach with hands and arms.
    • Ability to work on computer for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
    • Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to access work station or attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building.

     

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    This is a full-time position.  As an International Retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume.  This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
