  • Overview

    Provide safety and loss prevention leadership. Responsible for recommending and supporting company shrink control, and safety programs and that support reduction of accident/incident frequency and reduce shrink and other losses while embracing the company’s safety and loss prevention philosophy and culture.

    Responsibilities

    • Identify high shrink by analyzing DC and Call Center reports and other tools, as needed. Reviews and investigates loss metrics with LP Manager and other facility leaders.
    • Investigate misappropriation of assets; participating in loss investigations/interviews recommending prosecution or corrective action; coordinating and monitoring restitution.
    • Maintain rapport with law enforcement, civil defense and first aid agencies by establishing personal contact; coordinating and cooperating with local, state and regional safety and law enforcement groups, agencies and community groups.
    • Inspect buildings, equipment and access points; maintain scheduling and completion of security assignments. Facilitate and monitor status of surveillance equipment.
    • Partner with Regional LP Managers and LP Directors on investigations.
    • Manage direct report(s) and assistant Loss Prevention Manager with organization development.
    • Other duties as assigned by Loss Prevention Manager
    • Guide and promote safe work performance by implementing and evaluating safety processes, policies and procedures.
    • Work closely with WC Administrators ensuring investigative tools are utilized.
    • Partner with Inventory Control and Operations Supervisors to establish processes and provide training for associates regarding behavioral safety practices and inventory control techniques.
    • Administer and facilitate safety programs, committee meetings and teams.
    • Respond to critical incidents such as catastrophic events, violent weather and civil disorders; reviewing and responding to criminal incident reports; recommending corrective actions.
    • Comply with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying and reviewing existing and new laws; auditing and enforcing adherence to requirements; rendering opinions; advising management on needed actions.
    • Partner with LP Manager to identify and anticipate safety and health concerns and hazards by surveying operational and occupational conditions; rendering opinions on new equipment and procedures; investigating violations; recommending preventive programs and developing annual safety goals.
    • Assist LP Manager with designing, implementation, management, and preparation of annual safety programs.
    • Understand OSHA requirements; conducts investigations and responds as needed.
    • Assist LP Manager with overseeing associate injury response.
    • Oversee Post-Accident Investigations, identifies Root Cause, recommend remedial action as needed. Communicates findings to LP Manager and Safety Committee.
    • Increases employee’s effectiveness related to Safety and Loss Prevention by communicating job expectations; coaching, counseling and recommending disciplinary action to managers; communicating values strategies and objectives; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; fostering a climate conducive for offering information and opinions; providing educational opportunities.
    • Maintain monthly reporting statistics for safety and shrink the facility.
    • Maintain a safe and secure working environment through the enforcement of safety practices, providing information and training.
    • Multi-task in a fast paced environment and completes other duties and tasks as needed.
    • Facilitate and coordinate AED, CPR and First Aid training for first responders.
    • Conduct safety audits throughout the facility.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience Required:

    • High school diploma
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field
    • Previous experience in loss prevention and or security in Distribution Center and Call Center environment for 2 years
    • Experience with investigations/knowledge of investigation techniques
    • Wicklander-Zulawski Interviewing Techniques certification preferred

     

    Physical Requirements:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that are required by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

    • Work in a busy office environment in a shared office space including shared desk spaces
    • Subject to inside environmental conditions; protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
    • Ability to stay focused on a task with constant background noise of call center activity
    • Efficient keyboarding/data entry skills and ability to use a mouse
    • Ability to sit for long periods of time in a stationary position
    • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery for long periods of time
    • Operate under fluorescent lighting for long periods of time
    • Required to have close visual acuity to perform activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal
    • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear. The associate is frequently required to sit; use hands to type, mouse or key; as well as reach with hands and arms.
    • Ability to work on computer for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
    • Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to access work station or attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building.
    • Occasionally lift and/or carry, up to 60 pounds from ground to waist level for up to 30 minutes of a workday.
    • On call 24/7 and accessible for other shifts as needed.
    • Ability to push and pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds.
    • Ability to climb a ladder 50 ft tall.
